About Me
I have spent 20 years teaching IB Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies at International Schools in Europe and USA. I received my B.Sc. in Biology and M.Sc in Environmental Protection from the University of Edinburgh, UK. I also hold the IBO Certificate in teaching and learning as well an MA in International Education from the University of Bath, UK.
My teaching philosophy focuses on helping students create testable hypotheses through personal inquiry and identifying those variables that can complete the design and experimental research. I believe the International Baccalaureate curriculum helps create a blend of problem solving through transdisciplinary components that allows new knowledge to be gained. I believe in this educational system because it allows students to make mistakes and learn by having “fun through trial and error”. I have attended numerous IB conferences/workshops across the US and Europe and I focus on preparing students for 21st-century science jobs. I encourage students to think of themselves as participants in a global science-minded community of learners.
When not working, I enjoy skiing, scuba diving and travelling around the world.
